Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle on SW Archer Road in Gainesville

A pedestrian died Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle on SW Archer Road.

According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) release sent Wednesday, the crash occurred at approximately 8 p.m. in the 2300 block of SW Archer Road. Investigators said the pedestrian was crossing the roadway southbound, crossed the median and stepped into the eastbound lanes, where he was struck by an eastbound vehicle.

Alachua County Fire Rescue transported the pedestrian to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
