Dixie, Levy and Gilchrist counties have announced locations for self-serve sandbag locations in preparation for the potential Hurricane Helene.
Levy County Emergency Management posted the following sites. Residents need to bring a shovel and there will be a 10-bag limit at all sites. The sites will be open by noon on Tuesday, Sept. 24, through when the event ends.
Gilchrist County Emergency Management will open its self-serve sandbag locations at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
Sandbag locations in Levy County include:
- Bronson: Bronson Town Hall, 650 Oak St.
- Cedar Key: City Hall, 809 6th St.
- Chiefland: Chiefland Maintenance Yard, 920 SE 4th St.
- Fanning Springs: Fanning Springs Fire Station, 17651 NW 90th Ct.
- Fowlers Bluff: Fowlers Bluff Fire Station, 4591 NW County Road 347
- Gulf Hammock: Gulf Hammock Fire Station, 2851 SE County Road 326, Inglis
- Inglis: Inglis Municipal Building, 31 Risher Ave.
- Morriston: Morriston Fire Station, 2830 FL 121
- Rosewood: Rosewood Baptist Church, 6331 SW 98th Terr., Cedar Key
- Williston: Empty lot across the street from the Williston Police Department, 5 SW 1st Ave.
- Yankeetown: Yankeetown Water Plant, 6241, Harmony Lane
Sandbag locations in Gilchrist County include:
- Trenton: Southeast Park, 2nd Street
- Bell: Gilchrist County Road Department, 1770 S. Hwy 129
- Bell: Emergency Management EOC, 3520 N. US 129 (behind the building)
Sandbag will be available in Dixie County at the Dixie County Road Department located at 149 SE 309 St. in Cross City. Dixie County Fire Rescue asks residents to only take what is needed.
