Semi strikes, kills Welborn man on I-75

A tractor-trailer struck and killed a 50-year-old Welborn man walking along Interstate 75 near the Archer Road exit in Gainesville on Thursday afternoon.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 25-year-old Tallahassee man was driving a tractor-trailer north on I-75 just past the Archer Road exit at mile marker 384 at 4:45 p.m. when he hit the Welborn man.

Emergency responders transported the Welborn man to UF Health Shands Hospital emergency room where he was pronounced dead.
