Deputies respond to small plane crash near Micanopy

Key Points

Multiple deputies from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) and Marion County Sheriff’s Office, along with fire rescue personnel from both counties, responded Tuesday to a reported single-engine plane crash in an area west of Interstate 75 near Micanopy.

According to an ACSO release, deputies located the crash site and determined that both occupants of the aircraft were safe and not injured.

The aircraft came to rest in a marsh area, and deputies were reportedly working to assist both occupants out of the marsh and onto dry land, where they will be evaluated by emergency medical personnel.
