A 46-year-old St. Augustine man died when the airplane he was piloting crashed at the Keystone Heights Airport on Saturday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the crash occurred around 11 a.m. at 7150 Airport Rd. in Starke.
The FHP is working in conjunction with the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board as they investigate the causation of the crash.
The St. Augustine man was the only occupant on board the single-engine plane and emergency responders pronounced him dead on scene.
