A 46-year-old St. Augustine man died when the airplane he was piloting crashed at the Keystone Heights Airport in Bradford County on Saturday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the crash occurred around 11 a.m. at 7150 Airport Rd. in Starke.

The FHP is working in conjunction with the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board as they investigate the causation of the crash.

The St. Augustine man was the only occupant on board the single-engine plane and emergency responders pronounced him dead on scene.

Just from looking at helicopter view the 4 corners of the aircraft are all there so it looks like an inverted flat spin with no recovery. Just a guess though – NTSB will have to figure that one out or witnesses on the ground will surely know. So sad – hate to see these things happen.
