In an email statement from ACPS spokesperson Jackie Johnson, she reiterated the same steps that the high school took during the previous threats, all later confirmed to be hoaxes.

Students who walk or drive to school are dismissed along with those who ride the buses. Parents can pick up their children at the Boys and Girls Club.

“Law enforcement is still investigating,” Johnson told Mainstreet Daily News after the last bomb threat. “But catching them and the person facing consequences is a priority.”

An ACPS Facebook post reminded followers that under Florida law, a bomb threat is a felonious act punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

“Any student caught calling in a bomb threat will be immediately recommended for expulsion,” the post said. “Obviously, a fake bomb threat can permanently affect the caller’s life. It is definitely NOT a joke.”

The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the first three bomb threats, but it has not yet released any information about the incidents, including what means the person(s) used to send in the threats.

Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding the bomb hoaxes to call the ACSO at 352-955-1818 or Crime Stoppers with anonymous tips at 352-372- 7867. Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
