Williston man dies following collision

A car hit and killed a 78-year-old Williston man crossing County Road 318 east of Williston on Monday evening.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 28-year-old Trenton woman was driving a sedan westbound on CR 318 approaching a hillcrest around 7 p.m. when she struck the Williston man crossing southbound near NW 142nd Court Road in Marion County.

The woman pulled over on the westbound shoulder following the collision, according to the FHP report. Emergency responders transported the man to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
