Mack led Eastside with 91 tackles, including 14 tackles for loss, and also added 4½ sacks along with two passes defensed and one fumble caused. He also played running back for the Rams and finished second on the team in rushing with 228 yards on 30 carries and three touchdowns.

“It felt like home there (at Southeastern),” Mack said. “It’s a good academic school and I’m ready to go play ball down there.”

Playing at outside linebacker, Montague had 50 tackles with seven tackles for loss, three sacks, a team-high three interceptions, four passes defensed, and a blocked punt for Eastside, which finished 9-3, won a district title and advanced to the playoffs for the fourth straight season.

Montague also talked about academics as the main reason he signed with Southeastern.

“Their psychology program with science. I love that degree,” Montague said. “I also love how they put graduates to work within a year.”

Two other Eastside players signed to play with St. Thomas University in Miami.

Wide receiver Marcus Cofield will head south to play for the Bobcats. Cofield was the Rams’ leading receiver in 2025, with a team-high 21 catches for 400 yards, averaging 19 yards per reception, and six touchdowns.

“The energy, the coaches down there,” Cofield said. “It’s Miami, we are going down there to have fun. I want to have a good time and St. Thomas is a good school for academics.”

Cofield’s best friend since the first grade, defensive tackle Chad Hall, will join him at St. Thomas.

In his senior year at Eastside, Hall amassed 42 tackles, including eight tackles for loss and five sacks.

“I’m going to miss my teammates the most at Eastside,” Hall said. “It’s definitely different in South Florida, but the coaches at St. Thomas made me feel at home.”

It’s tough for Eastside coach Harold “Gator” Hoskins to see these four players leave the Rams.

“It’s a bittersweet moment to see these guys leave because I’ve had them here for four years,” Hoskins said. “I know coming into the spring I won’t see their faces out there, but I know they will be doing some great things at school over the summer, working out and training and hopefully getting ready to play their freshman years and having great college careers.”
