Today’s senior spotlight is on 2-sport athlete Asherah Collins of Columbia High School in Lake City.
Collins was a Gainesville Sun first team All-Area selection in volleyball. She finished this past season with 171 kills, 127 digs, 19 blocks, and 33 aces.
In track, she was a Class 3A state champion in the triple jump during her junior season. Her jump of 41 feet and 3.75 inches ranks eighth nationally. She was recognized by the Gainesville Sun as All-Area and Co-Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
Collins was a District 3, Region 1, and state champion for the Lady Tigers’ track team. She also competed in the 100 and was the last leg on the 4X1 team and the third leg on the 4X4.
Her favorite high school sports moments in volleyball and track were just being at practice and having fun, while working and getting better on her craft.
Collins was blessed to receive a full ride track scholarship to the University of Central Florida. She plans on making it to the Olympics with a back-up plan of dentistry.
