After excelling in baseball at Trenton, DeMartino signs with Edward Waters College

Today’s senior spotlight is on Jason DeMartino of Trenton High School.

DeMartino played basketball, and baseball for the Tigers. He was a four-year starter for the Trenton baseball team.

Last year as a junior, he was named 2nd team All-Area by the Gainesville Sun after batting .281 with 2 doubles, 1 triple, and 15 runs driven in. As a pitcher, he was 4-3 and had a 2.31 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 36 innings pitched.

DeMartino, who also played first base, was named All-Area three times and was a Perfect Game All Tournament team selection six times.

“Jason has a great personality and gets along with everyone,” said Trenton baseball coach Scott Hall. “He has a great demeanor and is always respectful and polite. I love his attitude on the mound, you know he is going to give you all he’s got each and every time.”

DeMartino was one of six seniors on this year’s Trenton baseball team. He was 1-2 on the mound in 2020 with a 4.00 earned run average. He had seven strikeouts in seven innings pitched.

He will continue his academic and baseball career at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville.
