Today’s Rising Senior is Maddy Sapp of Bell High School.
Sapp is an outside/middle blocker for the Lady Bulldogs’ volleyball team. She was a Gainesville Sun 1st team All-Area selection this past fall as a junior after finishing leading Class 1A in blocks with 106. She also had 252 kills and 80 digs for the 27-2 Lady Bulldogs, who lost to Branford in the Class 1A Region Final.
Her favorite high school sports moment so far was during her sophomore season when the team piled on top of each other after beating Trenton to advance to the Class 1A state volleyball final in 2018. The Tigers and Bulldogs were tied 2-2 in the state semifinals but Bell won 15-9 in the fifth game against the Tigers to advance to the 1A final in Fort Myers.
It was the first time that Bell had played for a state championship in any sport. Sapp finished fourth on that team with 112 kills as the ‘Dogs finished with a then school-best 26-4 record.
In the classroom, Maddy Sapp has carried a 4.3 GPA and she will graduate with her AA degree this fall. She has college interest from Valdosta State, Daytona State, and Flagler College.
