Buchholz wins in 9, advances to third straight title game

Key Points

For the third straight year, the Buchholz baseball team is headed to the state championship game.

This time it wasn’t easy.

After outscoring their two opponents, 15-0, in the past two state semifinals, the Bobcats had to scratch out a run in extra innings.

Zac Brown’s sacrifice fly scored Angel Irizarry with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth as top seed Buchholz defeated No. 4 seed Martin County (Stuart) in the FHSAA Class 6A state semifinals at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers.
