The HCA Florida Healthcare Gainesville Senior Games returned for its 24th edition over the past two weekends, with more than 650 registrants across nine sports.

From cycling and running to pickleball and pétanque, the athletes aged 50 or older competed for gold, silver and bronze—and the participation prize of healthy living.

Baerbel Bartyczak will turn 90 later this year and cycled in the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter time trials at Gainesville Raceway. As the oldest entrant, she clocked 13 minutes, 11.18 seconds and 27:28.67, respectively, and finished not far behind the young whippersnappers in the 60 and 70 age groups.

The games also included golf at Ironwood Golf Course, volleyball at Legacy Park in Alachua, archery at Gator Bowmen Archery Range, track and field at Fred Cone Park, pétanque and pickleball at Northside Park, table tennis at Alachua County Sports and Event Center and swimming at the Dwight H. Hunter Pool.
