Giebeig heading to Flagler College after a blistering finish to her softball career at Columbia High

Today’s senior spotlight is on Lucy Giebeig of the Lake City Columbia softball team.

Last year as a junior she was a second team All-Area selection by the Gainesville Sun after batting .286 with four doubles, and nine runs driven in.  But as a senior, she was batting a blistering .520 through nine games.  Giebeig was leading the team with 14 runs driven in and four triples. She was tied for second on the team with 13 hits and was tied for third with 10 runs scored.

In her final game in a Columbia uniform she played a perfect game against Space Coast on March 7th. She was 3-for-3 with three runs driven in, 3-for-3 in stolen bases, and she played error free softball.

Giebeig’s plans are to get her Real Estate license during the summer before she moves to college. She will be continuing her softball career at Flagler College, while planning to major in Business Administration.
