Graetz excelled on the court and in the classroom at Buchholz

Today’s senior spotlight is on Evan Graetz of the Buchholz boys’ tennis team.

Graetz was a district runner-up his freshman and sophomore years, but won a district title last year as a junior. His favorite high school sports moment was winning regionals to go to the state tournament his junior year.

The Bobcats, who were the only boys team in the area to advance to state last year, reached its first state tournament, losing to state finalist Lake Nona 4-2 in the quarterfinals.

Graetz, who was a team captain, was named an honorable mention All-Area selection by the Gainesville Sun in 2019.

He also excelled in the classroom, as a member of the National Honor Society and graduated top 15% in his class.  His favorite quote is, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

His future plans are to attend the University of Central Florida where he will study civil engineering.
