Last Friday, senior wide receiver Alvon Isaac scored four touchdowns as Hawthorne defeated Class 3M Terry Parker (Jacksonville), 46-6, to improve to 3-0.
He has been recognized as the Pavlik Orthodontics Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 5.
Isaac caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from quarterback C.J. Ingram for the Hornets’ first score of the game. The 2-point conversion gave the Hornets the lead for good.
The USF commit added a 43-yard touchdown on a shovel pass from Ingram in the second quarter as the defending 1R champions led 26-0 at the half.
“Special kid who can make a game changing play from anywhere on the field,” said Hawthorne coach Cornelius Ingram.
The 3-star rated prospect, according to 247Sports, finished with 103 receiving yards and three TDs. He also had an 80-yark kickoff return for a touchdown in the third quarter.
Hawthorne will host South Sumter (Bushnell) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The game will be broadcast online at Mainstreet Daily News beginning at 7:15 p.m.
Two weeks ago, Newberry volleyball player Hailey Tharp was named the inaugural Pavlik Orthodontics Athlete of the Week after averaging a double-double in five matches.
Last week’s winner was Chiefland running back Osten Jones, who rushed for 312 yards and scored six touchdowns in Chiefland’s 50-32 road win at Wildwood.
