Today’s Rising Senior spotlight is on Thurman Mills of Hawthorne High School.

Mills will participate in football and basketball for the Hornets. Last year as a junior he was named to the Gainesville Sun’s All-Area first team defense after finishing with 44 tackles, seven tackles for a loss, and four sacks in only eight games played.

He was the Hornets most dominant lineman.

His favorite high school sports moment was winning the state championship in basketball this past March. He played power forward and center for Hawthorne last season.

His goals for his senior season in football are 75 tackles with 10 sacks, and to win a state championship in both football and basketball.

His favorite quote is from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson: “If something stands between you and your success, move it.”

Mills, who carries a 3.55 GPA, currently has college offers from Grandview University, Carthage College, Warner University, Graceland University, and Albright College.
