Today’s Rising Senior spotlight is on Leontre’ Robinson of Newberry High School.
Robinson will participate in football and basketball during his senior year. His favorite high school sports moment was when the Panthers rallied from a 22-point halftime deficit against Ft. White on Senior Night to win in three overtimes.
Robinson was a first team All-Area and All-State selection as a junior after finishing with 12.5 sacks, 61 total tackles, 16 tackles for a loss, and five forced fumbles.
One of his best games came last October in a 56-12 win at Dixie County. Tre’ had 2.5 sacks, a fumble recovery, and nine total tackles against the Bears.
Robinson, who will play defensive end, linebacker, and H-back for Newberry, also did well in the classroom. He was an A-B Honor Roll student. His goals for his senior season are to make it further than last season and win a state championship.
Robinson currently has offers or interest from Georgia Southern, Holy Cross, Albright College, and McPherson College
After going 1-9 in 2018, the Panthers flipped the script by finishing 9-1 during the regular season last year under first year coach Ed Johnson.
Newberry is scheduled (TBD) to open up the regular season at rival Santa Fe (Alachua) – the Panthers only regular season loss last year.
