Today’s senior spotlight is Bridget Filer of the Gainesville High softball team. Filer has been both a player of the week and MVP, plus she’s been a student of the week, an A/B honor roll student, and has received both a leadership award and citizenship award.
On the field, Filer was third on this year’s team with six runs scored for Gainesville, which was off to a perfect 7-0 start. Filer had a pair of 3-hit games as a junior, going 3-for-3 in wins against Ocala Vanguard and Lake Wales.
Filer has two favorite sports moments with the Gainesville High softball team – when the Hurricanes played in the prestigious Kissimmee Klassic tournament and when GHS won the District Championship last year. Filer plans to attend Santa Fe College to earn a degree in Neuroscience Behavior before becoming a pediatrician.
