Senior Spotlight: Gainesville High’s team captain Robbie Collins headed to Duke

Today’s senior spotlight is on Robbie Collins of the Gainesville High School baseball team.

Collins, who played second base and shortstop for the Hurricanes, was a 3-year letterman and 2020 team captain. Last year as a junior he was Defensive Player of the Year after playing error-free baseball. In 57 total chances he recorded 25 putouts and had 32 assists. He elevated his offense this year and was batting .407 through eight games. He had a team-leading 11 hits, including a 3-for-4 night against defending 7A-District 3 champion Lake City Columbia on opening night on February 18th.  He was also second on the team with five runs scored.

Collins had lots of achievements and interests off the field as well.
