Senior Spotlight: Geiger’s all-state performance for Williston leads to scholarship at North Florida

Today’s senior spotlight is on Miranda Geiger of the Williston High School softball team.

Geiger was a 4-year starter, three time All-State, and All-Area selection.

Academically, Geiger ranked eighth in her class. She was a member of Future Farmers of America, the National Honor Society, and she was also the 2019 Homecoming Queen.

On the field, she was named to the Miracle Sports Class 1A All-State second team as a junior. Last year she had a .389 batting average with a team-high 32 RBI and was second with 33 runs scored.  She also had 13 doubles and led the Red Devils with six homeruns.

This year, she was on pace to have her best season statistically. Geiger was batting .565 with a team-high 20 runs driven in, twice as many as the next closest player. She also led the team with three doubles and was tied for the team-lead with two homeruns for the 5-3 Red Devils.

Her final game in a Williston uniform came on March 5th against Class 3A Bushnell South Sumter. She went 3-for-5 with two doubles and six runs driven in to help give the Red Devils a 14-9 win.

Geiger was very versatile, playing shortstop, third base, first base and pitched for Williston. Her favorite softball memory was when her and her little sister both hit OTF home runs in the same game.

Geiger will attend the University of North Florida in Jacksonville on a softball scholarship while getting her degree in dentistry.
