Cancellations

Yesterday the Marion County Public School District made a decision to cancel sports and extra-curricular activities through March the 24th because of safety concerns related to the corona virus. That affected one Tri-County area team on Thursday night as Williston’s home baseball game against North Marion was canceled.

Today, the Alachua County Public School District cancelled all extra-curricular activities beginning Monday, and lasting until March 31st.

Trenton will travel to Newberry tonight at 7 for a Class 1A-District 7 game.  The Tigers have gotten off to a slow start offensively with just a .198 batting average.  Yet, they are only two games under .500 and are coming off a win against defending 1A state champion Williston.  Senior Wyatt Langford leads the team with a .385 average.  The University of Florida signee has both homeruns for the Tigers.

Trenton will also be in action on Saturday afternoon at 4 at Orangewood Christian in Maitland in the second meeting of the season.  The Rams defeated the Tigers, 6-5, on March the 2nd

With tonight’s game against North Marion being cancelled, the Gainesville Hurricane’s baseball team will now head to Starke to take on Bradford, and Santa Fe’s baseball game on March 24th at North Marion has been tentatively moved to March 26th at 6:30.  The Raiders game with Buchholz next week will no longer be played at Santa Fe College. The location of the game has yet to be determined
