Today’s senior spotlight is Hunter Thomas of the Lake City Columbia baseball team.

Thomas, who is the son of head coach Brian Thomas, also has a 3.0 GPA. His favorite high school sports memory was last year when the team dog piled after winning its 5th straight district championship. Thomas, who was a 3-year varsity member, was hitting .211 with two RBI and five runs scored when his senior season was canceled due to covid-19.

Thomas is one of five seniors for the Tigers. His favorite quote was from his dad, “Play like it’s your last.” As it turned out, his best game of the season was his last, as Thomas went 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored in a 13-0 win against Ocala Lake Weir.

He will attend Glenville State College in Glenville, West Virginia, to further his academic and athletic career. Hunter plans on majoring in physical education, with a minor in business. He wants to teach and go into coaching like his dad.
