Ukeiley led Eastside with honor on and off the field

Today’s senior spotlight is on Joe Ukeiley of the Eastside baseball team, and a member of the National Honor Society.

On the field, Ukeiley was recognized as a 2nd team All-Area player by the Gainesville Sun as a sophomore after hitting .316 with one double, eight runs driven in, and 14 runs scored.

Joe Ukeiley of Eastside High School

This season, Ukeiley was batting .364 with a team-leading 12 hits. He also had three doubles, one triple, and was tied for the team lead with nine stolen bases in 10 games played.

He was also 2nd on the team with 11 strikeouts in 27 and a third innings pitched.

His favorite high school sports moment came during his junior year when he closed out wins against rival Gainesvile High School, their first victory against the Hurricanes since 2002, and Leesburg.

His plans after Eastside are to study mechanical engineering at Purdue University.
