On Friday night, the Trenton at Branford football game became the third game of the day to move to Monday night because of weather.
With Hurricane Isaias headed to Florida, area schools either moved their games up to Thursday or back to Monday. That includes the Sunshine State Athletic Association (SSAA) showdown between the Tigers and the Buccaneers.
Both teams are chasing an SSAA playoff bid. On Friday, the SSAA released its 11-man Atlantic North Rankings, showing the significance of the game, which will be played on Monday at 7 p.m. at Branford.
The top eight of those rankings will make the SSAA playoffs. Currently, Trenton is No. 7 and Branford is No. 9.
Making the next two weeks even tougher is that No. 10 Lafayette (Mayo) will host Trenton next Friday, giving the Tigers (5-1) two road games next week. Branford (6-2), which was essentially off this week, will host Trenton on Monday, and then get over a week off before their finale at Lafayette on Oct. 23.
SSAA member Bell, which is ranked No. 11, moved its home game against South Marion (Ocala) to Monday at 6 p.m. and Gainesville had its game at Lake Weir (Ocala) postponed until Monday at 7:30 p.m.
