Not a bad trade.
We’re paying nearly $4 per gallon in Alachua County, plus property taxes, sales taxes, and gas taxes, yet our roads crumble, animal control fails, and core services that residents rely on daily are collapsing. Meanwhile, the county spends $900,000 a year providing free jail phone calls a shocking waste of money that could be funding the services the community actually needs.
It’s humiliating that some of the poorest counties in Florida maintain better infrastructure and services than Alachua County, while we keep paying for mismanagement and neglect. Residents aren’t asking for luxuries they’re demanding what they already paid for and are being denied.
The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners have failed this community. Excuses are over. Hire a new county manager, stop wasting money, fix the roads, fund core services, and finally lead. The people of Alachua County deserve nothing less.

With the rise of gas prices at the pump. City Public Buses such as Gainesville Florida Alachua County Regional Transportation aka RTS shld be a more affordable transportation alternative. RTS has been given a grant to improve. Bus stops should have a Air-conditioned and Heated Structure with a Door for safety purposes and comfort. Buses shld be required to stop for 12 full minutes at each and every bus stop of this kind. Allowing paying bus riding customers to board without stress or violence laid upon them. The current bus stops that have a metal bench and a shack poll barn half roof have never protected a bus rider from the Suns damaging Ray’s Nor From Rain. Any way RTS can Abuse a Bus Rider seems to be their Goal from stinky bus stops to rude and verbally abusive bus drivers. R T S buses need Audio in place to catch these Cujo acting and verbalizing bus drivers. Thanks
This might be a good time to revisit why we pay more in taxes for gas in this county
