A Bell man was sentenced to 27 months in prison after pleading guilty to sending multiple threatening interstate communications to kill or cause physical injuries to a judge, politicians and Muslims.

According to a Northern District of Florida U.S. Attorney’s Office press release sent Tuesday, Peter Daniel Ring, 31, of Bell received a 27-month sentence in prison after he plead guilty in February to making multiple online threats against Late Night host Jimmy Kimmel, a Washington Post columnist, prominent Democratic Party leaders and Muslim people.

“With threats and acts of violence directed at public figures becoming alarmingly more frequent, my office is committed to aggressively prosecuting cases like this to send a clear message: we have zero tolerance for criminality in the Northern District of Florida, said John P. Heekin, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, in the release. “Threats of violence by deranged individuals can quickly lead to actual violence. Vigilant investigative work by our federal law enforcement partners and aggressive prosecutions can prevent tragedy from striking.”

According to the release, court documents revealed that in June 2025, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) received a complaint that a threat to kill a reporter had been made. The defendant was identified as the source of the threat.

Bell was interviewed by the FBI in New York after an email was sent to Christina Rampell, formerly an opinion columnist for The Washington Post. According to court records, Ring admitted to the email in the interview, said he didn’t intend harm and promised to stop any threats.

The interview happened in June 2025, but a few months later, the FBI received a voluntary disclosure from Google concerning a YouTube user’s comments. The user was Ring, and the disclosure restarted the investigation.

Between May and September 2025, the defendant made threats to kill or cause physical injury to at least 14 victims.

The threats were often comments on videos from prominent news organizations and mentioned Muslims and all democrats in general. But the comments also targeted former presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Kimmel.

Several of the comments occurred before the Washington Post email, but the court Criminal Complaint Affidavit showed Ring continued the YouTube threats in July, August and September. An arrest warrant was issued on Oct. 7.

Several of the comments were in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s death and mentioned the former leader of Turning Pointe USA.

“Every democrat needs to be killed and it will happen now that charlie died. Rules are off the table. You are going to be killed and I cant wait,” one of the comments read.

The comments also mentioned the families of several of the individuals, including Obama’s two daughters by name.

In the plea deal, Ring admitted to counts two and three (threatening communication). The U.S. Attorney’s Office would move to dismiss Count One at sentencing, the plea deal said.

“Threats of violence are never taken lightly,” said FBI Jacksonville Special Agent in Charge Jason Carley in the release. “This person’s actions caused fear and disruption, and the sentencing reflects the serious consequences of threatening to take innocent lives. The FBI will not tolerate individuals who use intimidation to terrorize our communities.”
