The incident occurred on Saturday when an FWC officer was on patrol in Alachua County and observed a pickup truck traveling along County Road 325, shining a bright light from the passenger side window. The pickup truck was also towing a trailer without rear running lights, so the officer conducted a traffic stop to address the violation.

During the traffic stop, both Cunningham and Kirkland told the officer that there were multiple firearms inside the pickup truck. An Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ASCO) deputy responded to assist and both officers located multiple firearms, assorted ammunition and magazines, a spotlight and a bag that contained a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. The two men were taken into custody and booked into the Alachua County Jail. During the booking process, cocaine was discovered in Cunningham’s possession.
