A 26-year-old Gainesville woman pleaded guilty in federal court to two counts of sexual exploitation of children by producing child pornography, 15 counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
According to a U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida release sent Tuesday, Trinity Joy Johnson used her cellphone to take sexually explicit photographs of a toddler who was in her care. She then shared the photographs, along with other files of child pornography, online with strangers while discussing sexually explicit topics.
Law enforcement arrested Johnson on Jan. 29, 2026, and, according to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) release, the arrest stemmed from an incident on Monday, Jan. 26, after the ACSO/Gainesville Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received a CyberTip concerning a situation that involved a subject sharing illegal material online.
An investigation by an ACSO detective traced the content to a social media account associated with Johnson that revealed the suspect had a personal connection to one of the victims depicted, which raised concerns about her ability to further victimize children.
A search of Johnson’s cellphone uncovered more than 100 files depicting child sexual abuse material.
“Thanks to the outstanding investigative work by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations, my office was able to aggressively prosecute this defendant to ensure she is held fully accountable for her disgusting crimes victimizing an innocent child,” said John Heekin, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Florida, in the release.
Johnson faces a minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years in prison for each production count. Each distribution count carries a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum of 20 years in prison. The possession count carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
Sentencing is scheduled for 3 p.m. Nov. 23, 2026, at the U.S. Courthouse in Gainesville before Chief U.S. District Judge Allen C. Winsor.
