Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers arrested a Lake City woman driving under the influence (DUI) after she hit and killed a Fanning Springs man riding a bicycle on Tower Road (NW 75th Street) in Gainesville on Wednesday evening.
According to an FHP release, troopers arrested Shateria Glenn, 30, and booked her into the Alachua County Jail on charges of homicide-negligent manslaughter, DUI causing death to a human or unborn child; unlawful blood alcohol causing damage to property or person; unlawful blood alcohol, refusal to submit to DUI testing; and three counts of unlawful blood alcohol of 0.15 or higher with a person under 18 in the vehicle.

The crash happened at 8:09 p.m. as Glenn drove an SUV south on NW 75th Street near NW 5th Place. The SUV hit a bicycle ridden by a 68-year-old Fanning Springs man, ejecting him from the bike. The bicycle then went into the northbound lane and was hit by another SUV driven by a 45-year-old Gainesville woman.
Emergency responders transported the Fanning Springs man to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Glenn had three passengers in the car, including a 3-year-old girl, a 1-year-old boy and another girl (age unknown), all from Lake City.
