The Harris Rosen Foundation announced on Friday a $50,000 donation to Gainesville For All (GNV4ALL) in honor of Chuck Dziuban’s decades of service to Harris Rosen, the foundation and various community initiatives.
According to a Harris Rosen Foundation press release, the contribution will support GNV4ALL’s “ongoing efforts to expand educational access and improve outcomes for children and families in East Gainesville.” The donation will also be used for scholarships, student meals and a toddler playground, amongst other things.
In addition to his extended service, the gift also recognizes Dziuban’s career at the University of Central Florida (UCF), where the release said he was admired as a leader and advocate for educational access.
According to a GNV4ALL Facebook post, Dziuban, who has served as a GNV4ALL board member since the nonprofit organization’s establishment in 2016, recently retired from UCF as one of the university’s “longest serving faculty members.”
Frank Santos, president of the Harris Rosen Foundation, said the donation will be a real difference-maker in Gainesville, while recognizing Dziuban’s countless hours of commitment.
“Honoring Chuck Dziuban in this way reflects the values he has lived every day – service, compassion and a belief that every child deserves opportunity,” Santos said in the release. “His leadership has touched communities across Central Florida, and we hope this gift will continue to open doors for families in Gainesville.”
James Lawrence, president and CEO of GNV4ALL, said the gift will strengthen the organization’s ability to serve the community.
“We are deeply grateful for the Harris Rosen Foundation’s generous contribution,” Lawrence said in the release. “This commitment from the foundation and Frank Santos empowers our mission and strengthens our ability to create [a] lasting impact.”
Dziuban said he was appreciative of the donation made in his name.
“Supporting and helping create education initiatives has always been a passion close to my heart,” Dziuban said in the release. “Knowing that this gift will help open doors for students is the most meaningful recognition I could ask for from the Harris Rosen Foundation and its president, Frank Santos. I’m truly grateful.”
The foundation also made a $35,000 donation to GNV4ALL in 2024.
Before his retirement at UCF, Dziuban served as director of the university’s Research Initiative for Teaching Effectiveness (RITE), according to the release. In this role, he managed the evaluation of the institution’s distributed learning program.
Dziuban also served as UCF’s liaison to the Harris Rosen Foundation Tangelo and Parramore programs. For over 30 years, the release said Dziuban played a key role in advancing the foundation’s mission to strengthen underserved communities through early childhood education, family support and neighborhood revitalization.
