Newberry Community School (NCS) recently announced that enrollment for its inaugural 2026-27 school year will open on Sunday, Feb. 1.
Families interested in enrolling their child in the new charter school – set to open in August – can do so by visiting the NCS website (https://ncsedu.org/) starting Sunday.
Parents with students currently enrolled at Newberry Elementary School (NES), which is converting to NCS, are guaranteed a seat for the upcoming school year. However, NCS Principal Lacy Roberts said in a release that parents must formally accept their child’s spot during the enrollment period to secure placement.
In addition to enrollment, Roberts said the school is actively looking for volunteers and engaged parents who wish to play a role in making NCS’s first year a success.
“Opportunities are available for individuals interested in supporting classrooms, school events and community-building initiatives,” she said in the release.
Parents and community members who wish to get involved should contact Roberts or visit the Little Red Schoolhouse (25815 SW 2nd Ave., Newberry) for more information. The NCS office is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The number is 352-474-2040.
