The Gainesville Fine Arts Association (GFAA) will present artwork from the “Exquisite Corpse Art-A-Thon” fundraiser at a ceremony on Friday.
The free ceremony will run from 7 to 10 p.m. during Gainesville’s Artwalk on Oct. 31 at the GFAA Front Gallery (1314 S. Main St.), with the art being revealed at 7:30 p.m., and will conclude a 72-hour art-a-thon with artists working from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, through Thursday, Oct. 30.
Exquisite Corpse is an old surrealist collaborative art game where each artist adds to a hidden section of a piece, creating a final artwork full of surprise, mystery and dreamlike juxtapositions.
In this 72-hour art-a-thon, each artist will have 24 hours to complete their section (with three sections/artists per piece). Just like a marathon, you can sponsor your favorite artist. Their fundraising page supports both them (30%) and GFAA’s nonprofit programs (70%).
