
The Matheson History Museum recently announced its 2025 Fall Program Series with multiple events scheduled from August through December.
The free events will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays from Aug. 6 through Dec. 24 at 513 East University Ave. in Gainesville. The programs are free, unless otherwise stated. Event registration and complete details at www.mathesonmuseum.org/events.
The 2025 Fall Program Series includes:
• Wednesday, Aug. 6, 7 p.m. – A History of Gainesville and Alachua County with Dr. Mark V. Barrow
• Wednesday, Aug. 20, 7 p.m. – Having Fun, Wish You Were Here! An Illustrated History of the Florida Postcard with Liz Coursen
• Saturday, Sept. 13, 10 a.m. -4 p.m. – Sarah’s Birthday Bash (Second Saturdays at Sweetwater)
• Wednesday, Sept. 17, 7 p.m. – Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (and Steamboats, too!): Florida’s Transportation History with Dr. Steve Noll and Florida Humanities
• Saturday, Sept. 20, 4 p.m. – Florida Women, Advice & Social Change with Dr. Kimberly Voss
• Wednesday, Oct. 1, 7 p.m. – Timucua Language and Culture: Understanding Alachua County’s Native Heritage with Dr. George Aaron Broadwell
• Wednesday, Oct. 29, 7 p.m. – History of the Death Care Industry in Alachua County with Don Davis
• Wednesday, Nov. 5, 7 p.m. – Florida: A History in Pictures with Jeff Davies and Mike McGinness
• Wednesday, Nov. 12, 7 p.m. – Chambers v. Florida and the Criminal Justice Revolution with Dr. Richard Brust
• Wednesday, Dec. 3, 7 p.m. – Cocoa & Culture: Sweet Stories from Trinidad to St. Augustine with Dr. Clarissa Carr and Anthea Grant
