Top Hog shows love to its community

It’s all about love for Top Hog BBQ.

“Top Hog BBQ takes the time to make our recipes with love,” it states on its website. “We make our recipes in small batches to make sure that everything you order is fresh and up to our customer’s high standards.”

Now, in a time its community is struggling on multiple fronts, Top Hog is showing its love in a different way. On its Facebook page, Top Hog made this announcement:

Mainstreet does not have a paywall, but pavement-pounding journalism is not free. Join your neighbors who make this vital work possible.

“To thank our community for your ongoing support and to help those in need during these trying times we will be giving free pork sandwiches this Monday March 30th while supplies last.”

It’s a powerful message to give away free food in a time when restaurants are going to extreme measures just to keep the lights on, and staff on payroll.

Top Hog is currently open at 11 AM daily for takeout and curbside pickup orders. They accept orders until 8:30 PM nightly. The 8:30 PM cutoff will allow for orders to be prepared and picked up by the state mandated closing time of 9 PM.

In a statement about their procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic, Top Hog owner Michael Sheftic said this:

“The health and safety of our employees and guests is always our top priority. In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, we have taken a number of additional measures to further protect our employees and those we serve. Some of these steps include the following:

  • Increasing our already rigorous cleaning and sanitization procedures
  • Adding a hands-free sanitizer station inside our restaurant
  • Installed new Anti-bacterial hand soap dispensers
  • Closely monitoring the health and well-being of employees
  • Closing the dining room and only accepting To-Go and curbside pickup orders.

Thank you in advance for your understanding as we navigate these trying times. We will continue to monitor the situation and update our policies and procedures as needed. The health and safety of our guests and employees will remain our top priority.”
