
The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office will offer a four-week virtual “Dining With Diabetes” program beginning Aug. 27 to help adults manage diabetes through healthy nutrition and lifestyle choices.
Led by Family and Consumer Sciences Agent Ebony Griffin, the course will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursdays from Aug. 27 through Sept. 17.
The multi-county virtual series is designed to help participants develop healthy meal patterns that align with American Diabetes Association recommendations while enjoying nutritious, everyday foods.
Throughout the four-week program, participants will:
- Learn about the relationship between diabetes, nutrition and physical activity.
- Develop self-management skills to better understand nutrition information.
- Receive diabetes-friendly recipes and healthy cooking techniques.
- Connect with others in a supportive learning environment.
The registration fee is $10, plus a $2.51 Eventbrite processing fee, and includes all course materials.
The class is open to adults and is limited to 50 participants. Registration closes on Aug. 26. Organizers noted there are no refunds or transfers to other classes.
