A 40-year-old Florahome man died and a 19-year-old Fort White woman is in serious condition following a two-vehicle collision Wednesday morning on US Highway 27 east of Branford.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the Fort White woman was driving a sedan westbound on US Highway 27 a half mile east of 29th Road at 9:24 a.m. and the Florahome man was driving an SUV eastbound when the two vehicles collided head-on.

Emergency responders pronounced the Florahome man dead on scene. According to the release, he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Fort White woman was transported to UF Health in Gainesville. She was wearing a seatbelt.
