Alachua County has launched a new Pothole Portal as part of an ongoing effort to improve pothole repairs and make it easier for residents to report road issues.
The county contracted with PSD Portal’s “Citywide” software to create the user-friendly platform, which replaces rbmaintanance@alachuacounty.gov as the preferred method for reporting potholes, according to an Alachua County release sent on Tuesday.
Residents can access the Alachua County Pothole Portal to submit a report and can create an account or submit a report as a guest. The portal’s interactive map lets users pinpoint a pothole’s exact location, helping county staff identify and address reported issues.
Once a pothole is reported, the portal adds it to the county’s digital system and automatically routes it to the appropriate road file. County staff will use the portal’s analytics to prioritize repairs, allocate resources and improve service delivery.
“Along with our new crews and machinery, this is part of a concerted effort to improve our pothole repair effort,” said Public Works Director Ramon Gavarrete in the release. “We will continue to look for efficiencies and innovative ways to address this issue.”
