A 40-year-old Hawthorne man was killed and an 18-year-old Interlachen man is in critical condition following a collision on County Road 2082 west of Hawthorne early Saturday morning.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the Interlachen man was driving a pickup truck east on County Road 2082 west of SE 214th Street at 12:20 a.m. when he crossed the center line, leading to an offset head-on collision with the 40-year-old Hawthorne man driving a sedan.
Emergency responders pronounced the Hawthorne man dead on scene, while the Interlachen man was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. FHP reported that neither driver was wearing a seat belt.
