Alachua County will host a Climate Fair to discuss creating a Climate Action Plan on June 2.
The fair will be held at the Cuscowilla Nature and Retreat Center (210 S.E. 134th Avenue in Micanopy) from 3-8 p.m.
Community members are encouraged to discuss the results of the climate vulnerability analysis with local leaders in a public meeting. The public meeting is scheduled for 3-5 p.m. and will exchange ideas on whether Alachua County should create a Climate Action Plan.
Starting at 5 p.m., there will be a Climate Fair with activities for families, and vendors will be available to discuss their climate change projects.
“Come get local answers to a global question as we explore what impacts climate change will have on North Central Florida, then create and expand on solutions already happening right here in Alachua County,” said Alachua County Sustainability Manager Betsy Riley in a press release.
Alachua County will accept applications to become a vendor at the Climate Fair through May 5. Vendors whose work can help combat climate change are invited to apply.
Vendors interested in participating can fill out an online application.
I have to wonder if a Climate Action Plan is somehow related to the stories of Chicken Little which don’t seem to be taught any more.
