- Bishop Kenny won the 2026 Bobcat Classic cross country meet for both boys and girls varsity teams for the second consecutive year.
- Branford's Logan Haley won the boys individual race in 16:17.9, while Bishop Kenny boys scored 138 points to Buchholz's 147 for second place.
- On the girls side, Bishop Kenny's Camila Giles won individually in 18:37.2, and Oak Hall and Buchholz finished second and third respectively in team standings.
For a second straight year, Bishop Kenny (Jacksonville) won Saturday’s 2026 Bobcat Classic for both boys varsity and girls varsity as the cross country season gets underfoot.
Hosted by Buchholz High School at Santa Fe College, the Bobcat boys finished in second place with 147 points, compared to Bishop Kenny’s 138. Eastside High School finished fifth with 174, clearing Jensen Beach by just two points.
Cross country team scores are tallied by adding the finishing places of a team’s top five runners. Bishop Kenny also swept the 2025 meet.
But the top individual finishers came from teams outside a podium finish.
Branford’s Logan Haley won the boys race in 16 minutes, 17.9 seconds. Fletcher’s Evan Kirby finished second in 16:27.3, while Eastside High School’s Luke Engels took third with the same time. Eastside placed fourth in the team standings, followed by Fletcher in eighth and Branford in 22nd.
The Oak Hall boys finished 10th, a drop from their third-place team finish last year and first-place finish in 2024.
Other local high schools included Keystone Heights in 13th place, Newberry in 15th, P.K. Yonge in 16th, Saint Francis Catholic Academy in 18th, Gainesville High School in 21st, Bell in 23rd and Santa Fe in 24th.
Fort White and Bradford also joined but didn’t have enough runners for a full team.
On the girls varsity side, Bishop Kenny easily outpaced the competition. The Crusaders’ top runners took first, third, sixth, seventh and 12th.
Camila Giles won the meet (18:37.2) with a 33.2-second gap over the next finisher.
The Oak Hall and Buchholz girls teams grabbed second place and third place with 79 and 91 points, respectively.
Crossing within five seconds of each other, Buchholz’s Morgan Outcalt landed ninth (20:04.1), followed by teammate Valeria Beaver in 11th overall.
Oak Hall’s Natalie Kay, a seventh grader, slid between the two Bobcats to lead the way for the Eagles. Teammates Reese Allen, Madeline Kay and Lola Murfee followed close behind and were among the top 20 runners.
A string of local runners stayed together and finished around that mark as well. Gainesville High’s Eve Flory finished 19th and was followed by Eastside’s Bridget Gulledge, P.K. Yonge’s Evelyn George, Buchholz’s Alanna Doyle and Oak Hall’s Alexis Thur de Koos.
For the team scores, P.K. Yonge finished in eighth place, Keystone Heights in ninth, Branford in 14th, Saint Francis Catholic Academy in 15th, Eastside in 16th, Santa Fe in 18th and Newberry in 19th.
Gainesville High School, Bradford, Trenton and Fort White didn’t have enough runners for a team finish.
