The high school football regular season came to an end this past Friday.

Among some of the top games, Eastside defeated rival GHS for the first time since 2008 and Williston capped an unbeaten season with a win at Chiefland.

Eastside earned the No. 5 seed in Class 2S-Region 2 and will host No. 4 seed North Marion (Citra) in the regional quarterfinals.

The Rams (7-2) defeated the Colts (7-3), 14-6, in a 2S-District 7 game on Oct. 3. That win, coupled with a home win against Santa Fe (Alachua) on Oct. 28, gave Eastside its first district title in 10 years.

Friday’s game will be broadcast on 106.9 FM “I am Country” beginning at 7 p.m.

Williston, which only won one game last season, finished behind Chiefland in the Class 1R-Region 4 seedings. However, both teams will host first-round games.

The No. 5 seed Indians (6-4) will travel to No. 4 seed and defending state champion Madison County (3-6), while the Bucs (7-3) will play at No. 3 Lafayette (Mayo). Branford fell to Lafayette, 47-0, on Oct. 17 in Mayo.

Top seed Union County (Lake Butler) also received a bye. The Tigers (6-2) will play the winner of the Madison County-Fort White game next Friday, Nov. 18.

Suwannee (Live Oak) closed the season with a 6-game winning streak, including a 10-7 win against previously unbeaten Bradford (Starke) on Friday. The Bulldogs (8-2) earned the No. 2 seed in Class 2S-Region 1 and will host No. 7 Walton (Defuniak Springs) (7-3).

The Tornadoes (9-1) are the top seed in 2S-Region 2 and will host No. 8 Crescent City (4-6).
