Today’s Rising Senior spotlight is on Kobe Delima of Newberry High School.

Delima will play football and basketball his senior year. He’ll be a shooting guard in basketball and will play running back, free safety, and return kicks this fall.

Last year as a junior, he was a Gainesville Sun first team All-Area selection on offense after averaging 9.8 yards per carry with 12 touchdowns for the 9-2 Panthers.

Delima currently has college offers or interest from Alvernia University, McPherson College, and Hutchinson College.

He is one of seven starters returning on offense this season for Newberry, which also returns seven on defense. Delima finished the 2019 season with 1,405 All-purpose yards and over 1,000 yards rushing, which also helped him earn Honorable Mention All-State.

After going 1-9 in 2018, the Panthers flipped the script by finishing 9-1 during the regular season last year under first year coach Ed Johnson.

Newberry is scheduled (TBD) to open up the regular season at rival Santa Fe (Alachua) – the Panthers only regular season loss last year.
