Today’s senior spotlight is on Jacob Pitts of the Chiefland High School baseball team.
In six games this season, Pitts was batting .250 for the Indians. The senior outfielder scored three runs in the six games, including a run in his final game in a Chiefland uniform, which was a 10-8 win against West Port (Ocala).
Jacob’s favorite high school sports moment was when the team dog piled in last year’s Class 1A Region Final after they had clinched their ticket to the final four with a 9-2 win at Dixie County (Cross City). Just eight days earlier Chiefland lost 2-1 to Dixie County in eight innings in the district championship game so it was also a payback for the Indians.
In Fort Myers, Chiefland defeated Bozeman (Panama City) in the state semifinals, before falling to Williston 4-2 in the state championship game. Jacob Pitts’ plans aren’t to attend college. Instead, he wants to become a game warden for Levy County.
