It’s not uncommon to walk into an established business around Gainesville and see a framed feature story that a local newspaper or magazine published decades ago.

This is part of the magic of print. It captures a story in a way that can’t be replicated with the fast-paced environment of the internet.

Have you ever printed an online news story and framed it? Neither have I.

Mainstreet does not have a paywall, but pavement-pounding journalism is not free. Join your neighbors who make this vital work possible.

Since Mainstreet launched in 2020, we have received requests for various keepsakes – from photos of a loved one playing high school sports to permission to copy a story for framing.

I’m pleased to announce that we now offer these options and more in our new keepsake store. Partnering with a company called PopMount, Mainstreet has a webpage offering glossy prints, hardi-plaques, acrylic plaques, crystal glass and more.

Prices start at just $15.99, making Mainstreet content available at a price point that is affordable for all budgets.

How does it work? It’s easy: Just click here to find the store, which is now an option under the blue “Marketplace” tab at the top of any Mainstreet page, then scroll through the options.

Once you click on the “buy now” button to make your selection, it will show you the size options and provide fields for identifying the exact story or photo you would like to purchase.

PopMount will then custom-make your keepsake and ship it within 10 business days.

Any Mainstreet staff photo or story is available for purchase dating back to when we began publishing in 2020. It’s never too late to go back and capture that special moment from the Mainstreet archives, which are loaded with photos of community events, rallies, protests, sports action and more.

This is another example of how Mainstreet strives to be responsive to reader requests. We hope this service will meet community needs, and we look forward to seeing these keepsakes hanging on walls around town.
