A Gainesville man involved in a July 2022 home invasion robbery and homicide was sentenced to 50 years in prison on Thursday.
According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) release, Alderious White, 32, was sentenced for his role in the July 19, 2022, homicide of Dhalni Armstrong.
The incident took place on July 19, 2022, when White and Jason Ward broke into a home in Northeast Gainesville and shot and killed Armstrong.
GPD officers responded around 6:56 a.m. to a home invasion at a northeast residence and found three people shot.
On July 20, GPD detectives confirmed that the two individuals injured in the shooting — White and Jason Ward — were transported to UF Health Shands were suspects in the home invasion that led to the death of Armstrong. Both suspects and the victim were shot during the incident.
GPD charged White and Ward with felony murder and home invasion robbery.
Two other people were also arrested in connection with the incident. Tiara Luckie was charged with accessory to murder for driving White and Ward to the home and Patrick Watson was later arrested for setting up the home invasion robbery.
Ward received a 30-year prison sentence in October 2023 and Luckie was sentenced to 15 years of probation in November 2022.
Watson, 52, is awaiting trial, which is scheduled for early December.
