Multiple law enforcement units converged on a bar in Old Town in Dixie County on Sunday morning after fights broke out among patrons.

According to a Dixie County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) release, the DCSO Communications Division received multiple calls around 1:45 a.m. reporting a large disturbance at Charlie’s Bar & Package at 21454 SE Highway 19, where multiple physical altercations were occurring both inside the establishment and outside in the parking lot.

When DCSO deputies arrived, they encountered a crowd that they estimated to be over 400 patrons, with several engaging in fights. Due to the large size of the gathering, DCSO called in additional resources, with units from the Florida Highway Patrol, Levy County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Agriculture assisting.

Sounds like one of those pop up parties from parts unknown. That bar is very small and must have a capacity allowance of around 30 to 50. We need a regional response plan to address these parties. Shut down roads and use stop and search tactics and we can let the outside agitators know the game. Paddy wagons and tow trucks. Get tuff on these events or they will get much worse.
