A city of Alachua student ranked among the top graduates in the Florida Virtual High School (FVHS) Class of 2026.

Lillian White of Alachua is among four FVHS seniors who are being recognized for earning the highest grade point averages in their graduating class, with the others in Pembroke Pines, Sarasota and Miramar.

FVHS, part of Florida Virtual School (FLVS), serves students statewide via a fully online public high school, according to a FLVS press release. The school provides students the opportunity to complete coursework virtually while taking part in dual enrollment, extracurricular activities and community engagement.

According to the release, White has devoted her high school years to exploring healthcare and the arts. She volunteered in hospice care and spent four years working alongside a cardiac sonographer.

A FLVS student since eighth grade and acrobat, the release states that White has “leveraged the program’s flexibility to pursue advanced acrobatic training, including relocating to Vermont.”

White is planning to attend the University of California, Berkeley, to study molecular environmental biology, the release said, with the goal of attending medical school and seeking a career in emergency medicine.

The FVHS Class of 2026 is made up of 1,499 graduates from 57 counties, making it the biggest graduating class in the school’s history.

According to the release, 18 students completed associate degrees through dual enrollment programs and 50 graduates earned the Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Diploma. Students collectively completed 1,454 Advanced Placement (AP) courses over four years, and 357 students graduated summa cum laude.

“This year’s top graduates exemplify what’s possible when students are empowered to pursue their passions alongside their academics,” FVHS Principal Suzanna Pacheco said in the release. “Their achievements reflect not only academic excellence, but the dedication, creativity, and resilience that define the FVHS Class of 2026.”

Florida Virtual Full Time Public Schools will hold its in-person commencement ceremony for graduating seniors on Friday, May 29, for graduating students and their families.
