A 59-year-old Gainesville man died on Sunday night when his SUV left County Road 225 in Alachua County, collided with a tree and became fully engulfed.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the man was driving an SUV northbound on CR 225 at 11:30 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the left side of the road and entered the west grassy shoulder. The vehicle collided with a tree and became fully engulfed.
Emergency responders pronounced the man dead on scene. He was reportedly not wearing a seat belt.
